About Us

DLHS has over 850 students in grades 9-12.  Located in the heart of Detroit Lakes, we are just a few blocks away from one of our area’s premier lakes.

Our school is student focused and provides more opportunities for its students than most high schools its size.  Students have access to vocal and instrumental music, international language and art, just to name a few.  We also have developed the Academies of Detroit Lakes, a program that leads all of our students through the opportunity to explore themselves and careers in the area.  Students leave DLHS with a diploma, some type of post-secondary credit or credential, and most importantly a ten-year plan.  We have the luxury of working with a terrific community that supports the work and partners in education with us.

Our school day is based around a modified block that allows students some longer block periods for labs, internships and capstone projects.  We also have a one-to-one technology program to allow our students access to their own device.

Our school day runs from 8:15am - 3:30 PM, on a two-semester grading system.  We also provide an intervention period and a break within our day to support the learning of our students.

We are the home of the “Lakers,” where we offer a full scope of activities, clubs and athletic programs for our students.  We excel in many areas including our fall and spring musical concerts and production, our athletic teams competing at the local and state levels and our speech, FFA and business teams.

Detroit Lakes High is a great place to be and a great launch pad for our students’ futures!
