Summer Programming

High School Summer School Information

The Detroit Lakes Summer School program focuses on providing remedial opportunities for high school students in grades 9-12 in the following subject areas: English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and Work Experience (must be gainfully employed).

Summer programming will utilize an online curriculum called Edgenuity. It is a program that utilizes both direct instruction from a licensed teacher and online work completion. Students will participate in daily classroom instruction followed by online independent work in Edgenuity to complete required courses.

Students will be required to be in the classroom from 8:00-12:00, Monday through Thursday, in order to complete summer courses. Students will be required to attend daily classroom time and follow through with online assignments independently at home or in additional classroom time. Students who are not attending daily or not completing daily assignments will be dropped from courses.

There will be two sessions: Students should be able to complete a course in 3 weeks. Week 4 will be utilized by learners needing extra time and attention. Students may enroll in 2 courses per session.

Session 1: June 3 - June 27
Session 2: July 8 - August 1

All students who have not completed summer course work by August 2 will be dropped from enrollment and will forfeit summer credit. Students may have an opportunity to re-enroll in the fall through Independent Study for course completion.
